Abstract painting has, in my opinion, has taken a shift from invoking the imagination and drawing viewers into a realm which they define what they experience and why. Slapping paint onto a surface and using sophisticated words and sentences as if to take the meaning of the work so far over the heads of the viewer--they buy it just "because." Whatever the reason a viewer looks at a painting for, there's a sense of direction, balance, and perspective--this identifies the purpose for looking at paintings in the first place.
An Abstractionist Layer, I arrive at a clear explanation as to why the work, its importance, the direction it heading, those who witness it, join it, view and collect.
