A piece of modern art featured at a Miami gallery that merely consisted of a banana duct-taped to a wall just sold for a stunning $120,000.
$120,000 for a banana duct-taped to a wall. No I'm not making this shit up!
The piece, called “The Comedian,” was created by artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was presented at the 2019 Art Basel fair.
“You can do anything and once you’re established you can get away with it,”
Art enthusiast Weezie Chandler.
Read it for yourself,(Be careful when you read this, there's more than just a banana on the wall, it's also states one was delivered to the MOUTH to suck during the exhibit) and then you'll come to realize why, imagination, thought, vision, doesn't play shit in the creation of modern/contemporary art today.
A person buying art is entitled to spend how they see fit. But it now opens the door for "TRASH ART" to become in.
Maybe this is the intention of the means-makers who shell out this type of resource.
We're forced (even if you don't like it) to understand one actual fact:
Nothing is never what it seems!
After-thought - what happens when the banana start to go bad? Does the art come with replacement bananas, or do you replace it yourself?
